On Friday, Volodymyr Lytvyn,
Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,
met Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania.
The meeting was held in the framework of the working visit of V.Lytvyn to Lithuania.
The President of the Republic of Lithuania declared that her country was willing to assist Ukraine in the important issues, especially the European integration. "We are trying to maintain the level of attention of the European institutions to Ukraine," she stressed.
In his turn, V.Lytvyn expressed his gratitude to D. Grybauskaitė for the support of European integration pursuits of Ukraine demonstrated by Lithuania in the European Council.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to implement the policy of drawing Ukraine into the European dimension. He calls for developing a ‘road map´ of visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union member states.
V.Lytvyn also called for consolidating the prospective EU membership of Ukraine to give impetus to the pragmatic actions of the Ukrainian politicians in this area, and to realize the assignments Ukraine has to accomplish to meet the European Union standards.
The Parties discussed activization of the parliamentary work within the Eastern partnership.
V.Lytvyn informed D.Grybauskaitė on the agreements reached during the meeting with I.Degutienė, Seimas Speaker of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Parties highly appreciated the level of Ukrainian-Lithuanian relations, focusing on their great potential. According to V.Lytvyn, "history united Ukraine and Lithuania twice, the third chance to be used on accession of our state to the European institutions."
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine informed the President
of Lithuania on the dynamic development of events in Ukraine. Thus, the Tax Code adopted
in the first reading should arrange transparent conditions for business, and improve
investment climate in the country.
As it was reported, on 7-8 of October, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with the working visit in the Republic of Lithuania and takes part in the sitting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Senate of the Republic of Lithuania and Sejm of the Republic of Poland.
